Jo Malone vs Miller Harris ( British lifestyle brand ) background & scent

Ok so who knows who actually own Jo Malone? I don't actually know until I start thinking to do this blog post. It is actually own by Estée Lauder . Interesting huh?! For all these time!!

Well technically Ms Jo Malone used to own the store herself however she sold it to Estée Lauder in 1999. To be honest I was a bit disappointed the fact that she does not own it anymore but it is very inspiring to have read an article* about her and her career. Ms Malone has now creates another company call Jo loves which also sales candles and perfume . ( let me know if you are interested to see more about Jo Loves, I'm thinking to have a look)

Unlike Jo Malone, Miller Harris which is also another British lifestyle brand owns by Lyn Harris. Lyn Harris owns her store but has no idea her company literally becomes famous in a day. First Lady Michelle Obama was given a present by Samantha Cameron for their trip to Washington and there! she was on the newspaper and her company website has 300% hits.

Do you wonder why the store call Miller Harris but not Lyn Harris? It is because the name of the store is made up of her fathers' middle name and surname.

Malone did not receive any formal training however Harris trained as a perfumer in Paris for five years and then at Robertet in Grasse (a fragrance ingredient house which specialises in naturals), before launching her signature line.

Both companies have an very interesting history and it is fascinating to see how the companies have developed.

I have candles from both companies, their scent are divine. I would say Jo Malone candles fill my room with the gorgeous scent stronger and longer compare to Miller Harris candle. Both candles are incredible yet it comes with a price tag. If you are big candle lover and scent lover I would recommend to treat yourself occasionally or these candle / perfumes would make a very special gift to loved one.
