Dishoom - Indian Restaurant

The other day my friend said to bring me to Dishoom in Soho for lunch as she went there last time it was delicious.

We went there around 2:30pm so we got a table without any queue. I was thinking we were going for a traditional Indian curry house but I was wrong. The decor in the restaurant is very modern and cosy.

The restaurant serve modern Indian food. My friend recommend some dishes and we went ahead to order those . I had also ordered a hot chai chocolate to drink.

For starters we ordered calamari , the worst thing you can get in calamari is heavy batter and the squid is little but it is not at all and it doesn't give you a greasy feeling . It is a very good portion too.

For main course, we ordered chicken ruby , it is a bit spicy for my taste but is bearable however I was disappointed as it only have 4 pieces of chicken! Thou the sauce is delicious. I am very surprise with the potatoes and salad. It is very tasty. The potatoes dish has spring onion and bacon which make it so tasty. The bowl of green with the herbs make it very interesting taste, it feels there is some kind of woody flavour but I'm sure is to do with the herbs. It is definitely not your usual boring bowl of green. I love chai and chocolate so it is a perfect match to order the chai hot chocolate. One thing is that I feel the hot chocolate portion is a bit small, it is about half a pint.

For dessert, i ordered a chocolate pudding with comes with chilli ice cream and my friend ordered a Christmas drink call Velvette fogg and it comes with chai ice cream. For me the two ice cream is incredible!! I would go and just order the ice cream on the go and be happy for the rest of the day. Seriously you need to go and try! The chilli ice cream is not spicy at all it gives you a kick after you swallow it but a nice warm feeling at the back of your throat ..

Yes I did say some of the dishes is small but my friend and I was so full! I enjoyed the meal a lot and would recommend to try. Do bear in mind it is not your traditional curry place.

Last but not least the staffs and service is excellent!
